A race won after a neck and neck duel with Loïc Escoffier.
A new victory which validates this "
step aside
" assumed by Roland Jourdain who travels on a We Explore catamaran, which incorporates 50% flax fibers and whose deck is the largest part ever built in vegetable fibers.
A real environmental turning point taken by the 58-year-old skipper.
Thanks to this victory, Roland Jourdain thus becomes the second sailor to win the Route du Rhum three times after winning in 2006 and 2010 in the IMOCA category.
Only Franck-Yves Escoffier had managed such a series to date.
More than anything, this victory proves that it is possible to approach ocean racing with a new perspective, one that is more respectful of the oceans and the environment.
