The situation around the World Cup in Qatar at a glance: the news ticker on Friday, November 25th.

  • The controversial World Cup 2022 in Qatar has been running since Sunday (November 20th).

  • FIFA suddenly allows rainbow colors in World Cup stadiums

Qatar - Surprising turnaround at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Previously, FIFA did not allow rainbow-colored clothing or items into stadiums, but that appears to have changed.

Fans who document their support for the LGBTQ+ community at the World Cup games should no longer be bothered by security personnel.

It was different in the first days of the World Cup.

Outside stadiums, people were asked to remove or cover up rainbow colored clothing.

World Cup 2022: FIFA allows rainbow colors

Before matchday 2 of the group stage, FIFA received a request from World Cup participants Wales to allow their fans to wear rainbow hats and flags in the stadium for the match against Iran.

The world governing body replied on Twitter that there were no fears of sanctions and that fans were allowed to take rainbow-colored hats and flags into the arena.

Welsh fans got into trouble entering the stadium at the start of the World Cup for wearing rainbow hats.

These were taken from female supporters ahead of their team's 1-1 draw with the USA at Al-Rajjan's Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.

The traditional headgear called buckets had fans made with colored stripes as a sign of solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community.

Other fans, including a German supporter, also had trouble with stadium staff over paraphernalia in rainbow colors at this World Cup.

World Cup 2022: Welsh Football Association criticized FIFA

The Welsh Football Association immediately criticized the incidents: "We remain convinced that football is for EVERYONE." In the remaining games of the World Cup in Qatar, numerous flags, hats and clothing in rainbow colors will certainly be seen - not only with the Welsh fans.

The reason why FIFA suddenly changed their mind and lifted the ban is not known.

Meanwhile, the German team is struggling with itself after the World Cup defeat against Japan and must find solutions quickly.

Because on Sunday (November 27) against Spain, only a win really helps.
