There was great excitement this evening (Saturday) in Poland after Robert Lewandowski's World Cup debut goal in a 0:2 victory over Saudi Arabia.
"He waited for this for so long," they praised and added: "After the goal, the captain drowned in the arms of his friends and could not hide his excitement."
The prodigious scorer has scored 76 goals in the national uniform until tonight - much more than any other player (Wlodimir Lubenski, who is in second place with 48) - but the current one may have been the sweetest of all.
In the 82nd minute, the 34-year-old Lewandowski took advantage of a mistake in the Saudi Arabian defense, making it 0:2 and sealing a red and white victory there.

With all due respect to Lewandowski's great story, Poland's man so far is Wojciech Szczesny.
The goalkeeper stopped a penalty today in extra time of the first half and immediately added a great save from the rebound.
It was the second game in a row in which he kept a clean sheet.
Sport.pl wrote about the goalkeeper: "After the victory over Argentina, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia gave the players Rolls Royce cars as a gift. If so, after tonight's game our goalkeeper also deserves one. A great performance by him, who finally gave a big game in a big tournament ".
