The first match day of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is history.

For the FC Bayern players, the final round is anything but according to plan.

Munich

– There is a lot of activity on Säbener Straße.

Despite the Bundesliga break, the pros at FC Bayern Munich are still training until December 10 before the winter break begins.

Of course, professionals are relative, the German record champions sent a total of 16 players to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.

Originally there were even 17, but Sadio Mané had to pull out due to injury.

Head coach: Julian Nagelsmann

President: Karl Hopfner

Venue: Allianz Arena

FC Bayern: Mané misses the World Cup due to injury

Julian Nagelsmann is currently keeping those at home happy and making sure that the non-World Championship drivers don't get too out of shape.

The Bayern coach will focus much more on Qatar.

And what he sees there will not please the 35-year-old.

Because it is not yet the World Cup for FC Bayern players.

The disaster began before the start in Qatar.

Sadio Mané injured his fibula in the penultimate Bundesliga game of the year against Werder Bremen and, after much back and forth, canceled his participation in the World Cup.

In the end, the Senegalese had to have an operation and could be out for up to four months.

FC Bayern: Lucas Hernandez suffers cruciate ligament rupture

But things are not necessarily going better for the FCB players in Qatar either.

Lucas Hernandez was hit the hardest.

The defender fought his way back to the World Cup just in time after tearing his adductor muscles in mid-September, only to suffer another setback there.

After the 26-year-old won the family duel with brother Theo at left-back, Hernandez tore his right cruciate ligament in France's opening game against Australia.

Of course, the left foot left Qatar immediately and underwent a successful operation on Thursday.

The season is over for Hernandez anyway.

FC Bayern: Sané before DFB return against Spain?

Noussair Mazraoui didn't get it that bad.

Morocco's full-back also had to be replaced due to injury in the first World Cup game.

In the 0-0 draw with Croatia, the 25-year-old was caught in the hip and Mazraoui had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher.

On the other side, Josip Stanisic was not used for Croatia.

Hernandez operated successfully - and there is probably good news

Just like Leroy Sané at the World Cup opener of the DFB-Elf against Japan.

Like Hernandez, the offensive player just came out of an injury break and had to deal with knee problems before the start of the World Cup.

Sané dropped out and was therefore unable to prevent the defeat at the start.

After all, a mission in the decisive game against Spain on Sunday is within the realm of possibility.

FC Bayern: DFB stars lose the opening game

Kingsley Coman completes the injury quartet.

The lightning-fast Frenchman had to end team training for the Équipe Tricolore prematurely on Thursday.

According to

L'Equipe

, this was a precautionary measure.

A use in the second group game against Denmark is still questionable.

Coman came on as a substitute in the World Cup opener against Australia.

But things aren't going well for the Bayern pros in the desert, either.

First and foremost are of course the DFB players Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Jamal Musiala, Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry and Sané.

After the debacle against Japan, Hansi Flick's team is threatened with a worst-case scenario on the second matchday.

FC Bayern: Choupo-Moting and Davies lose at the start

The start of the World Cup was particularly bitter for Goretzka.

The Bayern midfielder had to give way to Manchester City pro İlkay Gündoğan in the starting XI and looked anything but good after being substituted on to equalize to make it 1-1.

But not only the Germans blundered on the first day of the World Cup.

Alphonso Davies and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also experienced a World Cup opener to forget.

The Canadians were clearly the better team against Belgium, but lost 1-0 in the end.

One reason for this: Davies missed a penalty in the first half when the score was 0-0.

And Choupo-Moting also missed several good opportunities to at least lead his team to a point when his Cameroonians lost 1-0 to Switzerland.

FC Bayern: Will the series of World Cup finals continue?

However, not all FCB professionals got off to a bad start in the World Cup.

Matthijs de Ligt celebrated a 2-0 opening win against Senegal with the Netherlands in Group A and can already secure a place in the round of 16 against Ecuador on Friday.

De Ligt played the full 90 minutes against Senegal.

The start of the World Cup was also successful for the second duo of the Bayern quartet for France.

Benjamin Pavard and Dayot Upamecano were both allowed to start in the 4-1 victory over Australia and were able to convince.

As things currently stand, it will probably also be up to the two defensive specialists to maintain a very special statistic for FC Bayern: since 1982 at least one player from the German industry leader has played in every World Cup final.
