Bayern Bundesliga club VfB Hallbergmoos could gain some breathing room in the fight against direct relegation with a win at Türkspor Augsburg.

Hallbergmoos

– The permanent weakness of the Bayernliga basement children almost means that you can speak of a small “run” at VfB Hallbergmoos with their two points from two games.

If VfB should win the extremely important last game before the winter break at Türkspor Augsburg (Sunday at 2 p.m.), the team could perhaps even pull away from the back a little.

The 1-1 draw against Nördlingen last week not only brought the Hallbergmoosers their tenth point of the season, but also moved them up to third from the bottom of the table.

Türkspor also have ten points on their credit side - thanks to the first leg win (3:1), VfB are ahead in a direct comparison.

That would remain the case even if they lost by one goal and could become important again at the end of the season.

Türkspor Augsburg without a win since September 9th

"We want to leave Türkspor and 1860 Rosenheim behind us," says coach Matthias Strohmaier and therefore demands at least one point.

Basically, he wants more, because Augsburg haven't won since September 9 (3-0 at the last Rosenheim) and have been without a win for nine games.

VfB therefore has the chance to extend the cushion on Rosenheim and thus the direct relegation zone to five points.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

With a three in the last game of the year, VfB would have gotten away with a black eye.

Fourteenth place this season is probably enough for direct relegation, and Hallbergmoos could come within nine points.

That could possibly be caught up in the rest of the season.

After some bad games this season, coach Strohmaier sticks to the cautious option: "The goal is still relegation.

And I like to be surprised at the front.”

Back four with four central defenders?

In Augsburg there could be the little curiosity that the VfB back four consists of four central defenders.

Johannes Petschner seemed a bit overplayed recently and could be replaced by Brandon Happi Monthe on the right.

With the central defenders Stephan Thee and Strohmaier and Christoph Mömkes on the left, the Hallbergmooser would form a bar with nothing but tall players.

Up front, VfB had more chances to score, but no reliable executor.

Fabian Diranko could play this role again on Sunday, who is fit again after breaking his little toe.

He should be in the starting XI.

The fact that Simon Werner is VfB's top scorer with four goals actually says everything about Hallbergmoos' problem area.

The fact that the best goal-getter in a team has just four goals is the absolute lowest in the Bayernliga Süd.

Possible line-up:

Badger - Monthe, Thee, Strohmaier, Mömkes - Giglberger, Kostorz, Beetz, Küttner (Krause) - Werner (Lucksch) - Diranko.
