World Cup: big fire in Qatar, near the Argentina-Mexico stadium and a fan zone

Qatari authorities reported a fire this morning in Lusail, just outside Doha, where the match between the Argentinian will take place tonight


In comments reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Qatari authorities said that a fire had started in the North of Doha, 3.5 kilometers from the Lusail stadium, where Argentines and Mexicans will challenge each other this Saturday (8 p.m.).

Several witnesses posted images of thick smoke in the sky on social media.

So far, there are no casualties.

The fire reportedly started in a building under construction shortly after noon local time, according to statements by Qatari Interior Minister Khaled Bin Khalifa Bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani.

According to the Daily Mail, the fire would be located "a few hundred meters" from a fan zone.
