Despite the second defeat in the second game at the World Cup in Qatar and the associated drop out of the group stage, Canada has achieved something historic: The 1-0 lead was the Canadians' first World Cup goal ever.
Captain Atiba Hutchinson also celebrated an anniversary with his 100th cap.
Aside from the underdog's courageous performance, many neutral spectators will probably remember the minutes in the second half when Hutchinson apparently played with a tampon in his nose.
The Canadian medical staff responded to a bleeding nose in the 39-year-old by using the product.
The string of the hygiene product hung under Hutchinson's chin for the next few minutes, but didn't seem to bother him.
After the bleeding had stopped, the second oldest player in World Cup history after Cameroon's Roger Milla continued to play without aids.
