A shock that keeps its promises

It was announced to us as the match to follow in this group stage not to be missed.

Germany won the 2014 World Cup against Spain, who won the trophy four years earlier.

If the shock did not offer an orgy of goals (1-1), it was on the other hand played at a fast pace from the first moments, the two teams pressing for the loss of the ball with great intensity.

Throughout the game there was a tension that felt more like a quarter-final than a group stage match.

Morata, Fullkrug, the substitutes that change everything

Returning in the 54th minute in place of a Ferran Torres who had not succeeded much in the last meters (a bad choice in the 26th and a shot above in the 33rd), the Iberian striker showed its efficiency.

On one of his first balls, he scored his second goal of the competition on a cross from Jordi Alba.

Similar fortune for his evening opponent.

In the 70th, Niclas Füllkrug replaces a transparent Thomas Muller.

Fifteen minutes later, he took advantage of the good work of Jamal Musiala to deceive Unai Simon with an overpowered strike.

Spanish technical mastery

What a pleasure to see this Roja play, we can blame her for keeping the ball for few occasions but she displays such technical mastery that she asphyxiates her opponents.

We had seen him (logically) controlling everything against Costa Rica (7-0) and we were waiting to see what it would be like against a team that was a candidate for the final victory like Germany.

The test passed brilliantly: 65% possession at the end of the match with a sparkling Pedri.

Pedri once again displayed his class this Sunday evening.

CLAW STRIKES

Struggling German attackers

Where were they?

The German attackers who gave a lot on the pressing of the first line were not in sight with the ball.

Muller was invisible, Gnabry missed the chances he got.

The only bright spot came from Jamal Musiala, Bayern's little prodigy who set the game on fire with several series of dribbles and who gave the ball to Füllkrug on goal.

A dull atmosphere

The stadium was this time almost full this time but that didn't mean that we got carried away on the supporters' side.

The Kops behind the goals did their job but, for a game of this magnitude, we did not have the fervor we expected.

Fortunately, the match got carried away in the last moments to wake up the supporters.
