It turns out that the heated rivalry, with the decisive game between them in the background of the World Cup in Qatar, caused Argentina and Mexico fans to exchange punches and blows in the stands yesterday (Saturday).
During Argentina's 0:2 victory, fans from both sides were recorded arguing in the stands, when within seconds the event was ignited and caused them to confront each other.
Even before the match, there were reports of violent clashes between the fans of the two South American soccer countries, with Argentina under immense pressure to win especially after losing 2:1 to Saudi Arabia in the first match.
The organizers hoped that by limiting the sale of alcohol in stadiums at the World Cup, this would limit violent outbursts between fans fueled by the drink, but in practice this did not happen.

It was initially decided that alcohol would be allowed in the stadiums, leading to Budweiser being designated as the lead sponsor, but officials dramatically reversed that decision and instead restricted its sales to fan zones away from the stadiums.
