The Olympic Games in Paris 2024 are fast approaching, when today (Monday) a special press conference was held at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, where the details of the new system that will be launched for buying tickets that will start on December 1 were revealed.
Unlike the process in the previous games, where people kept tickets, had to wait for a lottery process at the end and then received a message whether they won or not, in Paris 2024 there will be a random lottery at the very beginning of the process.
Lottery winners will be able to access the site for available tickets for 48 hours, guaranteeing that they will receive the tickets they pay for.
So how do you do it?
The first step will be to create an account at tickets.paris2024.org in order to register for the lottery for the first phase of ticket sales, which will open on December 1 and end on January 31, 2023. In the meantime, applicants are invited to visit the website to review the prices and options of the Make Your Games packages.
Each package will include a choice of three meetings from a variety of sports.
For example, for 72 euros it will be possible to buy a package that includes athletics, handball and rugby;
gymnastics, judo and water polo;
two sailing sessions and a soccer match in Marseille;
Or golf, horseback riding and mountain biking in Ivins.
For each selected meeting, spectators will be able to apply for up to six tickets.
Each ticket account will be able to access a maximum of 10 packages, meaning a total of 30 tickets can be won.
Those who win the lottery will receive an email between February 13th and March 15th with two days' notice before the start of their 48-hour window of opportunity, with sales starting on February 15th.
The last day to sell Make Your Games packages will be on March 15, when registration will open on the same day for the lottery for the sale of individual tickets - a process that will end on April 21.
The sale of individual tickets to those selected in the second lottery will begin in May 2023.
The number of tickets, which will be slightly less than 10 million, will be issued exclusively through one global digital platform.
Paris 2024 organizers have explained in detail how the first phase of the sales should work, using a personal selection of games packages.
Almost half of the tickets are priced at 50 euros or less for the general public, with 1 million tickets at a price of 24 euros - the price of admission to all 32 sports in the Olympic Games program except for surfing, which will not be sold.
There will be up to five categories of seats (1, A, B, C and D), with the highest priced tickets at 980 euros.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will have additional specific categories and access will only be available at a later stage of individual ticket sales.
Paris 2024 President Tony Estanga said: "With almost 10 million tickets available for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the largest number ever sold at a sporting event, we are opening up the Games more than ever. For the first time, all tickets to the general public will be offered for sale from one official platform."
"All fans will be able to buy their tickets in the same way: on the Paris 2024 ticket website. There will be no more agents or middlemen involved. In the past you didn't really know once you picked your tickets if you'd hit the lottery.
