They were 3-1 down and seemed on the verge of being eliminated, but Cameroon then fought back a point against Serbia.

Bayern Munich's Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting held out at least a glimmer of hope.

Al-Wakrah - Captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has given Cameroon at least a minimal chance of progressing to the World Cup in Qatar.

The FC Bayern Munich striker scored the equalizer in the crazy 3:3 (1:3) against Serbia in the second group game (66th).

However, the "Indomitable Lions", whose coach Rigobert Song had openly dreamed of the semi-finals before the tournament, need a win against tournament favorites Brazil to still have a chance of reaching the round of 16.

In front of 39,789 spectators, the Serbs, who lost 2-0 to Brazil at the start and were uneasy about a FIFA investigation into a nationalist flag, lost a 3-1 lead and thus a good starting position for the final group game against Switzerland.

After central defender Jean-Charles Castelletto had given Cameroon the lead in the 29th minute, defensive talent Strahinja Pavlovic (21st) from RB Salzburg (45th + 1) turned as the youngest Serbian World Cup goalscorer ever, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (45th .+3) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (53.) started the game.

But Cameroon came back with a double strike from Joker Vincent Aboubakar (64th) and Choupo-Moting.

While the former Frankfurt player Filip Kostic joined the Serbs after surviving a thigh injury, but his Turin club colleague Dusan Vlahovic was still missing, Song surprisingly made a goalkeeper swap.

According to media reports, André Onana from Inter Milan had to go to the bench for disciplinary reasons.

He was replaced by Devid Epassy from Abha Club in Saudi Arabia.

Despite the 0-1 draw against Switzerland, Cameroon had not lost their optimism.

And neither is her zest for life.

As before the Switzerland game, they got off the team bus upon arrival singing and dancing.

The mood among the Serbs was much more tense.

Nevertheless, the team of the former world-class player Dragan Stojkovic almost quickly took the lead, but the otherwise accurate Mitrovic missed twice in a promising position.

The center forward, who shot Fulham into the Premier League last year with 43 goals this season and is fourth in the top scorers list there with nine goals, hit the inside post in the eleventh minute and even missed a hundred percent chance five minutes later: After two ricochets in the Cameroonian cover he got a free shot from ten yards out, but missed.

Instead, the Africans took the lead with the first dangerous action.

A corner by ex-Mainzer Pierre Kundé was extended by Nicolas Nkoulou and Castelletto slotted in at the far post.

The strong Kundé had the 2-0 on his feet after winning the ball himself, but missed twice (42nd).

Instead, the game was completely turned around by the Serbian brace in added time.

First Pavlovic hit his head after a corner, then Milinkovic-Savic with a low shot from 18 meters.

Shortly after the break, Mitrovic also completed a remarkable seven-stop play, but Cameroon didn't give up.

Joker Aboubakar first scored himself, then he put on Choupo-Moting, which is worth seeing.
