Serie A: Juventus board of directors Andrea Agnelli and Pavel Nedved resign

The entire board of record-breaking Italian football champions Juventus, including President Andrea Agnelli and his deputy Pavel Nedved, has surprisingly resigned.

The Turin club announced this on Monday.

Managing director Maurizio Arrivabene, formerly team boss at the Ferrari Formula 1 racing team, also announced his resignation, but should still accompany the transition until a new board is appointed.

At the end of October, the Turin public prosecutor's office had completed the investigation into alleged accounting fraud and irregularities in player transfers against the club.

16 accused are threatened with a process, including Agnelli, Nedved, but also Arrivabene.

The club, which is listed on the Milan stock exchange, is financially ailing, with Juventus making a loss of 254 million euros in the past financial year.

Agnelli had explained the million minus with the corona pandemic.

Juve has been on the upswing, at least in terms of sport, although the "old lady" missed the knockout round in the Champions League, but in Serie A Juventus won six games in a row before the World Cup break.

Angnelli has been in office since 2010 and has had a successful period with nine championship titles in a row.

However, the president has repeatedly come under criticism, partly because he is considered an advocate of the controversial Super League.

Agnelli fought until the end to introduce the new series.

Nedved has been Vice President in Turin since 2015.

Between 2001 and 2009, the Czech played for Juventus and was one of the best midfielders in the world during that time.

He scored 51 goals in 247 games for Juventus.
