The player of the Cameroon national team, Gael Ondua, went up today (Monday) to the match against Serbia in the World Cup in Qatar, with the Russian flag on his shoes.
Ondua is a midfielder who was born in Cameroon but holds Russian citizenship.
He currently plays for Germany's Hannover 96, but previously spent several seasons with CSKA Moscow and Anzhi Makhachkala. Onduah was called up to the Cameroon squad for the World Cup in Qatar and made appearances as a substitute in matches against Switzerland and Serbia.
Although the player showed up with the shoes also in his debut at this year's World Cup, the photographers didn't really notice it, so he showed up later in the evening with the shoes on social media.

His patriotic move may backfire as Russia was banned from Qatar 2022 earlier this year when FIFA sanctioned the country over its invasion of Ukraine, in an ongoing war.
Onduah and Cameroon teammate Mumi Ngamalu are one of only two players competing at the World Cup in Qatar representing Russian club teams.
