Qatar says goodbye to the World Cup with three defeats, the worst host in history

Cody Gapko, the striker for the Netherlands, establishes himself as the most accurate man in the championship with a new goal, the third in three games, and classifies his team as first in the group

The Qatar team has made history, this Tuesday in its World Cup.

For the first time in a century, the host team says goodbye to the championship with full defeats, three, after the Netherlands endorsed them 2-0.

The result for the emirate as a whole, made up mainly of players born in other countries, joins the 2-0 win against Ecuador in the opening game and the 3-1 loss against Senegal, where he scored the only goal in this World Cup, scored by Muntari.

"Qualifying for the round of 16 was never our goal," said Félix Sánchez, the Spanish coach of Qatar, after the game.

"We only have 6,000 federative licenses."

In today's meeting, the other protagonist wore orange.

Three games, three shots, three goals.

The magic number presides over the brief file of Cody Gakpo in the World Cup in Qatar.

At 23 years old, the PSV forward leads the

ranking

of the men with the best aim in the championship.

His forcefulness has earned the Netherlands the status of first place in Group A after beating Senegal, drawing with Ecuador and defeating Qatar on a trot, this Tuesday.

Gakpo appears rarely, but almost always produces an explosive effect.

He did it on the verge of completing the half hour of the game in the stadium of the large tent, in Jor, after Klaasen and Depay knocked down a wall.

His shot close to the post put him on a par with the four Dutch players who had managed to score three goals in three successive World Cup games: Neeskens, Bergkamp and Sneijder.

With Gakpo's goal, one of the most predictable games of the championship was put on track.

Eliminated Qatar played looser than ever, determined not to be humiliated in front of their silent audience, zealously cloaked in white robes.

The Netherlands used the evening to tighten screws.

The dilemma between saving legs and improving performance did not inspire doubts in Louis van Gaal, who hardly made changes to the lineup.

Instead of Berghuis, who was rested, De Roon formed the midfield with De Jong and Klaasen.

At the tip, the coach sat Bregjwin to align Depay, who needs filming, with Gakpo.

"Now we will play against the United States or Iran in the round of 16," Van Gaal said after the game;

"And we will do it with De Roon and Depay better conditioned after several months without competing."

Against Senegal, the same as against Qatar or Costa Rica, Van Gaal's 5-3-2 formation did not change: he corseted the players in attack and grouped them in defense around Van Dijk.

The system, basically constituted to resist rather than to dominate, did not show elasticity even in the dress rehearsal that Qatar led.
