Argentina beats Poland - Lewandowski and Co. tremble in the round of 16

Argentina and Poland prevailed in the tight group C.

After the 2-0 win for the Albiceleste, Lewandowski and Co. had to tremble for a long time to reach the round of 16.

Saudi Arabia scored the 1-2 goal, but Mexico would still be through with a 3-1.

Both teams would be through as of now as Saudi Arabia and Mexico are also goalless at the break.

The Poles would certainly be through with a draw, but this is shaky given the many chances for Argentina.

It might be a game of patience for the aggressive South Americans.

With 13:2 shots on goal, Argentina will go into the break straight away, Poland's keeper Szczesny was able to defuse eight attempts.

43 minutes:

The audience reacts to the missed shot by shouting "Messi, Messi".

The Argentines absorb the shock quickly and are moving forward again.

After a shot, Szczesny makes a save just in front of De Paul, but the Argentine is a bit surprised by his sudden scoring opportunity and fails to capitalize.

Szczesny guesses the corner, jumps to the left and fishes the ball out.

38 minutes: After Alvarez's shot there was a possible foul, Szczesny hit Messi lightly in the face.

Referee Makkelie checks the scene for a penalty - and actually gives it!

That penalty is by no means one to give.

37 minutes:

After a blocked Albiceleste cross, there is the next corner.

This time the South Americans play them briefly, after a pass from Messi, Fernandez tries it, but his shot goes well over.

Shortly thereafter, Alvarez gets the chance after a fine pass from Mac Allister - and again Szczesny holds in a one-on-one.

Di Maria almost twists a corner kick from his Juventus team-mate Szczesny right into the net, but the Polish keeper was careful and just managed to steer the ball over the bar.

The next corner from the left brings nothing in the episode.

Otamendi steals the ball from Lewandowski when he almost gets the chance to go it alone.

Well taken care of by the Argentine defender.

The corner kick brings nothing, with the Poles there is still not much going on in terms of play.

Messi and his Argentines have everything in their own hands.

In the event of a three-pointer, they could certainly plan for the round of 16, in the event of a draw, Saudi Arabia and Mexico would have to play a draw.
