Remco Evenepoel has made his choice.
In a video published this Wednesday by his team, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl, the 22-year-old Belgian prodigy announces that he will be at the start of the 106th edition of the next Tour of Italy, which will take place from May 6 to 28.
The reigning world champion should therefore not, unless surprised, take the start of the Tour de France (July 1 to 23).
"I'm going to run the Giro in 2023, it will be special since it will be with the rainbow jersey (world champion), I'm looking forward to that," he explains in this video.
This is not a surprise, but a confirmation of what everyone sensed.
It's official 𤊠I'm riding the 2023 @giroditalia and I can't be more excited for it.
Andiamo!!

Winner of the Tour of Spain, his first grand tour, last September, world champion in stride, Remco Evenepoel will compete in his second Giro after that of 2021. He had then abandoned before taking the start of the 18th stage between Rovereto and Stradella.
With three time trials on the program (1st, 9th and 20th stages for a distance of 70 km), the route is cut out for him, the Tour de France offering only one exercise of 22 km.
