Curious in the Germany game against Costa Rica: Antonio Rüdiger will play against his landlord on Thursday for a place in the round of 16.

Doha – The German national team still has a chance of reaching the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup. If the DFB team meets Costa Rica on Thursday afternoon, a win is almost a must, and you would also have to rely on the Spaniards at the same time.

Defender Antonio Rüdiger will not only have the table constellation in the back of his mind in the last group game, he will meet his landlord.

Antonio Rudiger

Born: March 3, 1993 in Berlin

Position: Central Defence

Internationals: 56 (2 goals)

Current club: Real Madrid

Antonio Rüdiger: National player switched to Real Madrid in the summer

At the age of 29, Rüdiger, who has won 56 internationals, has already had an eventful career.

Born in Berlin, he played for four different clubs in his hometown before coming to VfB Stuttgart via BVB and becoming a Bundesliga professional there.

After two seasons at AS Roma, he moved to Chelsea in England for 35 million euros, where he spent five years.

The bubbly central defender has been employed by Real Madrid since this summer, the Blancos took the German on a free transfer and gave him a four-year contract.

World Cup 2022: Costa Rica player Antonio Rüdiger rents out his house

From a sporting point of view, Rüdiger has already really settled into the Spanish capital.

According to a report by

Bild

, like many of his teammates, he lives in Madrid's posh La Finca district.

Oddly enough, the house where the DFB star lives with his family belongs to Keylor Navas - Costa Rica's international goalkeeper.

So Rüdiger will play against his landlord on Thursday.

Navas played for Real Madrid for a total of five years, but in the summer of 2019 he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in France.

He played a total of 162 competitive games during his time with the royal team and is obviously still connected to his old homeland.

Germany vs. Costa Rica: Ex-Real keeper Navas is Rüdiger's landlord

The 35-year-old goalkeeper kept his house in the Spanish metropolis after his move and now apparently rents it out to colleagues.

For the three-time Champions League winner Navas, the situation on Thursday will certainly be strange, his "Ticos" still have the chance to make it into the round of 16 after beating Japan.

Rüdiger reacts to curiosity: "As long as I pay rent, nothing will happen"

When asked about the strange constellation on Thursday, Rüdiger reacted calmly.

"As long as I pay the rent on time, I don't think that will happen," said the 1.90 meter man with a grin to the

.

"Keylor is a great goalkeeper who is still somewhat underestimated for me.

But of course we want to beat him and Costa Rica.”

So the top performer of the national team has no qualms about being thrown out of his villa in the event of a win.

Spanish tenancy law would probably put a stop to that anyway.
