The DFB-Elf is fighting for a place in the last sixteen of the World Cup on Thursday.

For ARD presenter Julia Scharf, however, the 2022 World Cup is already over.

Munich – The group phase of the 2022 World Cup is entering the decisive phase.

The Netherlands, Senegal, England and the USA already qualified for the World Cup round of 16 on Tuesday.

And also on Wednesday there are the next decisions in groups C and D, before Germany fights for entry into the knockout phase on Thursday.

For an ARD presenter, however, the World Cup has already ended, as reported by tz.de.

World Cup in Qatar: Only two kick-off times per day

We're talking about Julia Scharf.

The sports scientist was previously seen on the first page alongside expert Thomas Broich.

The duo had their last joint assignment on Monday.

Due to the more compact schedule from the 3rd match day, ARD will not be using the well-rehearsed duo with immediate effect.

The broadcaster had previously scheduled two teams on matchdays for its broadcast days.

The reason for this: On the first two group match days there were still four kick-off times per day, from the third match day there are only a maximum of two.

Julia Scharf is no longer active as a World Cup presenter.

For viewers, this means that from now on they will be guided through the broadcast by the World Cup team led by experts Almuth Schult, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Sami Khedira and presenter Jessy Wellmer, who had to replace the sick Alexander Bommes at short notice.

However, viewers don't have to do without Thomas Broich's razor-sharp analysis.

The 49-year-old is still on duty as a tactics expert and co-commentator.

His ZDF colleague Sandro Wagner recently apologized for a verbal slip.

The duo on site in Qatar continues to be moderator Esther Sedlaczek with expert Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The moderator recently split the opinions of ARD viewers with her outfit, while her work colleague had to be addressed with the wrong first name.

In general, however, the duo convinces the audience with their relaxed, sometimes flippant tone.

Meanwhile, Scharf is not going on winter vacation.

The 41-year-old can now be seen as a moderator in the ARD winter sports broadcasts.

There Mauro Cavaziel experienced a horrific accident at the Super-G race in Lake Louise.
