Japan - Spain: World Cup in Qatar 2022, live | La Roja seeks to certify the pass to the round of 16 against the Japanese team

2022-12-01T19:08:09.955Z

Luis Enrique's men arrive with a tie to reach the next round, but a victory would ensure them first place in group E. In this case, they would face Croatia

Spain is being measured this Thursday from 8:00 p.m. with Japan in search of a ticket for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar.

La Roja have everything on their way to advance to the next round after thrashing Costa Rica (7-0) in their debut and dropping two points against Germany (1-1) on the following day.

The accounts are simple for Luis Enrique's men: with a draw they reach them, but a victory against the Japanese, who signed one of the surprises of the World Cup by defeating Germany (1-2), would ensure them to lead group E. If they are first, in the round of 16 they will face Croatia, the current runner-up in the world.

For the match, the Spanish coach has made a carousel of changes: Pau Torres, Balde, Nico Williams and Álvaro Morata are making their debut as starters in this tournament.

In his place, they have remained on the bench Laporte,

Jordi Alba, Asensio and Ferran.

In addition, Azpilicueta, who already started against Costa Rica, is also playing for Carvajal on the right side.

In the other match in the group, Germany (1 point) has been facing Costa Rica (3 points) since the same time.

Starts the match!

The hymns are played in the International Khalifa.

First the one in Japan and then the one in Spain, all feelings and goosebumps.

Then the captains (Busquets and Yoshida) go to the field draw... And the referee puffs up his cheeks to whistle the start of the match, so that the ball starts rolling...

Let's go there!

A draw would be enough for Luis Enrique's team to move on to the next round.

Japan is required to win because it is assumed that Germany will beat Costa Rica with more than one goal difference...

There are changes in the team but anyone can play.

Ambition and to continue with the work we are doing”.

The central role is very important because we work on the creation of the game and also on defense”.

We have analyzed the two matches of Japan.

On a collective level they work well, very supportive... A team that makes things difficult for the great teams.

But we are not going to speculate, knowing that he is a dangerous rival”.

Our greatest virtue is to control the matches.

And we learned from the other day against Germany in the last minutes.

It is clear that what we want is to have it under control”.

Luis Enrique's team (II)

Center of the field

.

There is no tutía here.

The usual three play, the Barcelona machine room.

Busquets, although he is aware, is the guardian of style, the one who gives meaning to the game, the lever that moves Spain.

As a squire is Gavi, who also has a good touch and who works for three, a footballer who does not shrink from anything or anyone despite the fact that he has only recently come of age.

And by his side Pedri, the player who puts magic, who knows how to find the gaps or protect the ball, press

play

or pause, the figure who always shines between the lines and who is no longer a project but rather the present. of world football.

Lead.

The most significant thing is that he does not play Asensio as a false 9, but Morata will act as a center forward, a player who performs like few others with the national team.

With him, Spain has a footballer who fixes the central defenders and who will give space and air to the wingers.

On the left, as always, will be Olmo, a starter in all three games and one of the best performers.

It is the bankruptcy and the hit.

And on the right will be Nico Williams, who is leaving the game for the first time and who has earned the confidence of the coach ahead of Ansu Fati.

He is the speed and the center.

Luis Enrique's team (I)

Against Japan, Luis Enrique makes quite a few changes compared to the other matches.

He is sure that it is to oxygenate the legs of several starters, also to be able to face the following duels with greater guarantees if they continue.

Goal.

Unai is immovable.

The goalkeeper had no work against Costa Rica and against Germany he conceded a goal in which he could do little.

He will play from start to finish throughout the tournament.

Defense

.

Here are the big changes.

Azpilicueta plays on the right and not Carvajal, as happened in the first match against Costa Rica.

Pau Torres debuts ownership in the axis of the rear and will be next to Rodri, a midfielder who with Luis Enrique is clearly a defender to help build the game from the root.

And on the left, instead of Jordi Alba, who is having a great tournament, the young Balde will leave the game, who in principle was not scheduled for the World Cup and who arrived on the horn, after Gayà's injury.

Morata finds his peace

Ladislao J. Monino

A conversation during a pre-season trip between Álvaro Morata and an Atlético employee close to Diego Pablo Simeone revealed to his interlocutor a stronger and more determined personality.

Nothing to do with the footballer who went crestfallen to spend two years on loan at Juventus in Turin in the summer of 2020. The dialogue gave the player a scolding for not having defended more vehemently, inside and outside the locker room, his position in the starting eleven against the decadent version of Diego Costa.

Morata's goalscoring records were better than Costa's, but he had the approval of Simeone, against whom he only rebelled after being a substitute in the Champions League quarterfinal against Leipzig played in Lisbon.

remembering the episode

The interlocutor questioned Morata to assert himself and in his response he appreciated a footballer who was very convinced that the reluctance of the Argentine coach on his return was going to disappear as soon as he put on a couple more games for him in summer bowling.

It happened like that.

Spain looks launched

Jose Samano

So optimistic is Spain in the headquarters of the University of Qatar that the squad came to speculate against Japan (8:00 p.m., La 1 and World Goal).

Option finally discarded, according to Luis Enrique.

No conjecture to avoid a supposed crossover with Brazil, the one expected in the quarterfinals if La Roja is first in the group.

The resistant Croatia, the happy Morocco or the disturbing Belgium would be the adversary in the round of 16.

If that phase is overcome, if logic does not twist, the next Spanish appointment would be with Canarinha.

Luis Enrique: "We are not going to speculate against Japan"

Ladislao J. Monino

The possibility of playing second in the group against Japan so as not to come across Brazil in a hypothetical quarterfinal does not enter Luis Enrique's head, despite having reflected with his team on the possibility of doing so.

The Spanish coach made it clear in his appearance this Wednesday prior to Thursday's game against Japan that Spain will win.

"We've asked ourselves that question, but from a professional point of view we have to imagine that if we go zero-nil on the scoreboard at [minute] 95 and Japan scores and Costa Rica beat Germany, we're out!" the technician warned.

“When you are convinced that your team is good, you don't have to look at what can happen.

We want to play seven games, we want to be first because that means that we have been the best in our group.

It has happened in the last European basketball tournament, that a team missed a free throw to play against Spain and then lost.

To win a World Cup, you have to beat the big teams sooner or later”, added Luis Enrique.

Dani Olmo: "You win football with the ball at your feet"

José SámanoLadislao J. Moñino

"Our goal is to play seven games," says Dani Olmo (Terrassa, 24 years old), Spain's best player against Germany without hesitation.

The Leipzig attacker has appeared at the World Cup in top form after overcoming a partial tear of the internal ligament in his left knee that occurred at the beginning of September.

The musculature of his arms is fibrous and his robust neck is more typical of a Formula 1 driver than of a footballer.

“I have worked hard to arrive on time and in shape”, he reveals, before confessing that he has returned to eating meat after two years without doing so: “Last year it was irregular due to injuries and I thought I had to change something and it has gone well for me ”.Read here the interview with Dani Olmo, a winger who has left the game in the three matches in Spain.

Busquets discovers the shortcomings of Germany

Diego Torres

“No me gustan”, dice convencido.
