Spain's Roberto Martinez announced his departure from coaching the Belgium national team after bidding farewell to the 2022 Qatar World Cup in the group stage after a draw with Croatia.
The Belgian Federation stated in a statement on its official website that the decision to leave Martinez was taken before the start of the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
Martinez became the third coach to leave his post following the exit from the World Cup, after the veteran Portuguese Carlos Queiroz (Iran) and the Argentine Gerardo Martino (Mexico).
The Belgian national team fell into a goalless draw against Croatia at the end of the Group F matches of the World Cup.
