Football fans have their eyes glued to the world, in Qatar, where the round of 16 of the competition is approaching.

But fans of Pelé, for sure, are keeping tabs on his health.

At 82, he suffers from a “respiratory infection” but his general state of health is improving, said Friday the hospital in Sao Paulo, where the Brazilian legend has been treated since Tuesday.

Pelé had been admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital for a reassessment of his colon cancer treatment.

His respiratory infection is "treated with antibiotics", said the doctors.

“The response (from Pelé) was adequate and the patient (…) is stable, with a general improvement in his state of health.

He will stay in the hospital for the next few days to continue his treatment, ”adds the establishment.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento's cancer was detected in September 2021, the Paulista Hospital revealed on Wednesday.

On Thursday, on his Instagram account, King Pelé wanted to reassure his fans, and clarified that it was a routine "monthly visit".

He took the opportunity to thank all the people who gave him their support and their wishes for a good recovery, since Tuesday.
