For three minutes yesterday, the Spanish team was in a relegation position.
The Spaniards, who lost 2:1 to Japan, found themselves in third place when Germany fell behind against Costa Rica, and in fact qualified from second place only thanks to the victory of the eliminated Mannschaft.
Luis Enrique concluded: "There were five minutes of loss of control, panic even. In those moments, if they had to score two more times then they would have succeeded. This is the World Cup and a team like Japan has nothing to lose. They flew past us like airplanes."
At the press conference, when Luis Enrique was told that there were minutes in which Spain were out, he reacted with surprise: "We would have been eliminated for three minutes? If I had known, I would have had a heart attack."

Pedri admitted: "Japan was much stronger. We didn't control the pace and we saw what happened. I looked at the result and thought we were relegated, that we had to conquer. We didn't succeed. There were difficulties throughout the game, also against Germany. I'm not tired, we didn't lack freshness. They just put a lot of players on the field and played with tremendous intensity."
