A great achievement for Thai boxer Yossi Kedem, who won today (Friday), the silver medal in the World Championship on behalf of the WMF Association, in the weight category of 71 kg.
The 35-year-old Kedem, who previously competed in the European Championships, suffered a long injury that kept him out of action for four years, and returned for the first time to compete in major competitions, finishing in second place after succumbing in the battle for the gold medal against an opponent from Kazakhstan.
"It was a great honor to represent Israel in such a big competition," Kedem said. "I was in Thailand about a month before the competition in an intensive training camp with one of the top trainers in the Thai boxing scene, Ajarn Wat, and it helped me a lot.
Israel is a small powerhouse in Thai boxing and there is a next generation that goes to the biggest competitions in the world and picks up titles worth following in the industry."
Kedem is the private trainer in Thai boxing of huge stars such as Noa Kirel and Rif Naman and the chefs Tom Aviv and Guy Gamzo who even sent him messages of support during the competition.
