What a game: A total of 32 penalty minutes were imposed in the Oberliga game between EC Peiting and HC Landsberg.

That had consequences.

Peiting

– Anton Saal really couldn't help it, he knew that when he was supposed to comment on the game in the press conference: "We did well today," said the EC Peiting coach, smiling and adding: "I have to Compliment the boys today.” Yes, the ECP coach likes to be reserved when it comes to praise.

After the 7-2 win at home against HC Landsberg, there really wasn't much to complain about.

Because Peiting showed a convincing performance at home.

The whole of Derby got down to business right from the start in the ice hockey league game on Friday evening: a whopping eight times there were two-minute penalties in the first period, five of which were imposed by the Landsbergers.

That wasn't clever, because the ECP proved to be extremely effective on the power play.

When three Landsbergers had to defend themselves against five Peitingers, ECP captain Andreas Feuerecker put the puck into the net to make it 1-0.

Because of the goal, a Landsberger was allowed back on the ice – only 17 seconds later, however, his teammate Sven Gäbelein had to go off because of a stick hit.

Peiting followed up with goal number two through Felix Brassard.

In the end, it was the Canadian who made it 3-0 after 13 minutes – outnumbered, of course.

But this time only with one more man on the ice.

After 40 minutes it's over for ex-Peitinger Andreas Magg

At the beginning of the second third you could think that the game would be a little more balanced.

Mika Reuter even scored the first goal for Landsberg on the power play, followed by quite a few good chances for the "Riverkings".

Ultimately, however, the hosts remained the determining force on this evening.

Peiting had more of the game - and was much more effective.

David Miller increased to 4:1, Diebolder made it 5:1 - the only goal in the first two periods in which both teams had five field players on the ice.

When Brassard made it 6-1 just before the half-time siren, another Landsberger was in the penalty box.

The game was over for one player at the break: ex-Peitinger Andreas Magg, who is now guarding the Riverkings' goal.

He stayed on the bench in the third period.

Coach Sven Curmann "didn't want to burn him up", as he later said in the press conference.

Instead of Magg, Michael Güßbacher now stood in front of the box.

Sam Payeur's absence well absorbed

He was the first to be happy about a goal from the men in front: Adriano Carciola netted to make it 2:6 – albeit outnumbered.

As a result, the strict referees on both sides repeatedly sent players to the penalty box.

And the goalies were busy on both sides.

Florian Stauder, also an ex-Peitinger, failed twice in the 50th minute at ECP goalkeeper Konrad Fiedler, who again was a good backup.

Güßbacher also defused many an attempt.

And did not survive the game unscathed - Fabian Weyrich increased to 7:2 for Peiting - it was his first goal of the season.

And the end of a goal-rich game.

The people from Peiting were missing Sam Payeur, who had injured himself against Bad Tölz.

And even if the victory was clear, Saal emphasized that the 24-year-old is difficult to replace.

"We had to make sure that we made up for his loss as a team," said the coach.

“The team has moved closer together.” Another compliment – and justified again.
