Rot-Weiss Klettham and FC Erding could become something new: FC Herzogstadt.

The name?

Oh well.

The idea: Really good.

Do you know FC Herzogstadt?

The name is a bit unwieldy, but it will soon be on everyone's lips.

Because once again a merger in Erdinger football is on the horizon.

The TSV Erding department is said to be disbanding to join Rot-Weiss Klettham.

The two then want to start playing together from the new season – in the youth and in the men’s team.

The representatives of both clubs confirm talks, but they do not want to say more about it.

Not yet.

There will probably be more information next Thursday at FC Erding's annual general meeting.

FC Erding?

Didn't I just write TSV Erding?

Things are a bit complicated.

The footballers of TSV got married almost 20 years ago - at that time with SC Erding, who dissolved his division.

TSV and SC eventually became FCE.

At least in public, because the Bavarian Football Association continued to call the teams TSV 1862 Erding.

But that was only a formality.

So now Klettham – and not Altenerding.

We remember: Not long ago, FCE and SpVgg wanted to join forces.

At that time, both were sporty on the ground and arrived in the A-Class (which is why scoffers also spoke of a beggar marriage).

The whole thing didn't burst at the time, as is often rumored, when we published the plans, but because of the very strong veto of long-standing members.

Arguments that the merger of the two largest city clubs - also with regard to new sponsors and joint youth work - could be a great opportunity for Erdinger football didn't help.

Yes, that could have been a really big number back then.

The cooperation between Klettham and Erding will not have this dimension.

The power and perspective that Altenerdinger youth work brings with it is already missing.

Nobody expects a big hit from a merger between RWK and FCE - and is probably not followed with the same Argus eyes of the competition.

And precisely for these reasons, the chances are better that this merger could work.

Both are - league or not - on an equal footing, have the same problems and ambitions.

In their youth they have been working together in the JFG Sempt Erding since 2004.

The sports facilities are also only a stone's throw away from each other.

Players and officials have known each other for years and are not known for any particular vanity.

The result counts.

In short: it could really work.

Just one more thing: FC Herzogstadt, really now?

So historical?

Can't you get a better grip?

Doesn't have to be FC climbing (otherwise the people from the Alpenkranz might complain).

But there has to be a better way.

Dear readers, we welcome suggestions, which we would be happy to pass on.

On this occasion you could also send us suggestions for the name of another long overdue merger: that of SV Wörth and Hörlkofener SV.
