Maro Tefri's great year continued this morning (Sunday) after he improved the Israeli record in the marathon, when he finished the grueling Pakoka run in Japan in 2:06:43 hours.
For the 30-year-old Tafri, this is an improvement of 15 seconds on the previous record, which he himself set at the beginning of the year in Seville, when in addition he also crossed the finish line in first place.
This is perhaps the biggest year in Tefri's career after he set an Israeli record at its opening, at the World Championships held in Eugene, Oregon, in the United States in July, when the Israeli marathon runner finished in 11th place with a time of 2:07:59 hours.
One of the greatest moments came at the European Championships in Munich, where he reached the podium twice when he won the gold medal in the team competition and the silver medal in the individual competition when he finished with a result of 2:10:23 hours, when he lost the gold in the last meters.
