He has become Formula 1 World Champion for the second time in a row.
Max Verstappen received a luxury car from Honda as a gift for this season.
Japan - The Formula 1 season is already over and most drivers are enjoying their well-deserved vacation before returning to racing in a few months.
However, this year's world champion Max Verstappen has not yet been able to lie down directly on the lazy skin.
For him and the other Formula 1 drivers from Red Bull and Alpha Tauri, it was off to Japan for the "Honda Racing Thanks Day", which is organized every year by their engine partner Honda.
There was then a well-filled program for the fans with competitions in various motorsport classes, interviews with drivers and parades.
For Honda, however, one in particular stood out: Verstappen was honored for his back-to-back world championships.
The car manufacturer had therefore thought of a special gift for the Dutchman.
Strictly limited super sports car for Max Verstappen
Verstappen was presented with the latest version of the Honda NSX Type S by Honda Chairman Seiji Kuraishi.
A top-class super sports car, it costs around 150,000 euros.
In addition, there is only a limited number worldwide, which amounts to just 350 pieces.
“You gave Honda its first title in 2021 in a dramatic world championship fight.
In 2022 they were superior - thanks on behalf of the whole Honda family!” said Kuraishi.
Immediately afterwards, the two did a short test drive with the car on the Motegi racetrack.
Verstappen thanked him when he was handed it over: "It's a great car, I'm very proud to have it.
Thank you very much.” The Formula 1 driver definitely did not expect such a surprise.
"I had no idea!
That makes me very proud, all I can say is a huge arigato.” He can then drive his new car through the streets of his adopted home of Monaco before heading to Bahrain for the test drives at the end of February!
