Effective Erdinger Puckjäger celebrate a 6:1 win in Kempten.

The match winners: Goalie Schedlbauer and triple striker Mark Waldhausen.

Kempten/Erding

– The Erding Gladiators scored an important success against a direct competitor in the fight for a place in the championship round.

On Sunday evening they won the ESC Kempten Sharks with 6:1 (4:0, 1:1, 1:0) goals.

Erding's team boss Felix Schütz only had 14 field players available, eight of them forwards, so he had to vary his attack.

The next problem for the Gladiators emerged after just under three minutes when two players had to go to the penalty box in quick succession.

And just when the Erdinger were complete again, they were lucky that a Kempten shot landed on the post.

As a result, the Gladiators proved to be masters of converting opportunities.

After almost six minutes, a concealed shot by Simon Franz – it was his first shot ever – made it 1-0.

A little later, goalkeeper Christoph Schedlbauer made a spectacular save against Max Schäffler (10th), and Wassilij Guft-Sokolov made it 2-0 (11th) with his first goal of the season.

And then the Sharks themselves helped out when a defender shot at Mark Waldhausen, from whom the puck keeper Danny Schubert slipped through the schooners to make it 3-0.

The Sharks now launched furious attacks, but on the one hand Schedlbauer made a great save and on the other hand he still had the necessary bit of luck.

Then two from Kempten were in the penalty box and the Gladiators used the 5:3 majority to make it 4:0 through Waldhausen (19th).

In the second period, the Sharks changed the goalkeeper, Jakob Nerb was now between the posts.

When a player from Kempten had to go to the penalty box, team manager Schütz took a time-out – and the score was immediately 5-0.

Daniel Krzizok hung up for Waldhausen, who scored from close range.

But the Sharks didn't give up and kept running.

Linus Voit scored a free-standing shot over the goal (29') and Anton Zimmer failed to get a break from Schedlbauer (30').

But then the efforts of the Allgäu were rewarded.

Schedlbauer saved against Nikolas Oppenberger, but Rostislav Martynek converted the margin to 1:5 (37th).

In the final third, the Kempten team once again put incredible pressure on the Erdinger Tor, but the defense remained stable.

When Erding was in the majority, it was Tomas Plihal who marked the final score with the margin.
