The legend of the past, who experienced a deterioration in his condition, put up a post and wrote: "I have a lot of hope and am doing my treatment as usual, thank you all for everything"

Pele, one of the greatest Brazilian players and one of the greatest footballers of all time, updated his condition last night (Saturday) and said that he is "strong" and has "a lot of hope" while continuing treatment for colon cancer.

Pele's social media post came after local media reports in Brazil said the 82-year-old former footballer's health had worsened.

"My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive," Pele said in a message posted on his Instagram page.

"I am strong, with a lot of hope and doing my treatment as usual. I want to thank all the medical and nursing staff for all the treatment I received."

"I have a lot of faith in God," he continued, "every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy, and you will also watch Brazil in the World Cup! Thank you very much for everything."

According to the hospital's statement on Saturday, Pele's health condition remains stable.

"Pele showed a good response to the treatment of the respiratory infection, he did not show any worsening of his condition in the last 24 hours," they said at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo.

The 82-year-old former footballer, one of the greatest players of all time, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday to re-evaluate his cancer treatment after having a tumor removed from his colon in September 2021. In December of that year, Pele was hospitalized and underwent chemotherapy.

During the weekend, past and present soccer stars wished Pele recovery wishes on social networks, while in Qatar, which is currently hosting the World Cup, lit the torch tower in Pele's face with the inscription "speedy recovery".
