For those who felt that the course of the French team proved too easy so far during this World Cup in Qatar, it is possible that they change their minds next Saturday, on the occasion of an explosive and enticing quarter-final between the Blues and England in the Al-Bayt stadium in Al-Khor.

Two teams that have not faced each other since June 13, 2017, when Didier Deschamps' men got the better of the Three Lions in a friendly match at the Stade de France (3-2).

At the time, the French scorers were named Umtiti (22nd), Sidibé (43rd) and Ousmane Dembélé (78th), the latter well served by Kylian Mbappé.

Harry Kane, he had scored twice (9th and 48th from the penalty spot), and the Blues had played the second period outnumbered after the expulsion of Raphaël Varane in the 47th minute.

But in five years, a lot of water has flowed under the bridges of the Seine and the Thames.

Since the start of the competition, both teams have impressed.

If France lost a match against Tunisia (0-1) by lining up a B team, England remains undefeated with three wins for a draw against the United States (0-0).

In the round of 16, the English outclassed Senegal (3-0) with achievements from Henderson, Kane and Saka.

A few hours earlier, France had done the same against Poland (3-1) thanks to a double from Kylian Mbappé and the 42nd goal in the selection of Olivier Giroud.

Suffice to say that Blues like Three Lions will not lack confidence when approaching this quarter-final.
