At the press conference after the game, Peiting's coach Anton Saal was pissed off.

Even the day after, his anger about the tough gang check against Sean Morgan hadn't gone away.

For the ECP, the case is by no means closed.

Peiting

– As far as sport is concerned, EC Peiting was within the expected range last weekend in the Oberliga.

The 7:2 home win against neighboring Landsberg on Friday was followed two days later by a not really surprising 2:5 defeat by the professional team of the Starbulls Rosenheim.

Before the guest appearance this Tuesday (December 6th) at the Tölzer Löwen (7.30 p.m.), those responsible in Peiting cannot and do not want to go back to business as usual.

I have nothing against healthy hardness and fair checks, but that was assault.

Peiting's coach Anton Saal

After the game in Rosenheim, it wasn't so much the defeat itself that upset her as the unsportsmanlike behavior of some of the Starbulls' players.

The people from Peiting were not on good terms with Michael Knaub in particular.

The 27-year-old German-Canadian, whom Rosenheim had signed from league opponent SC Riessersee at the beginning of the season, rammed Sean Morgan so hard into the rink a few minutes before the end of the game – the score was 4-0 for the hosts that Peitinger remained motionless on the ice for minutes and was then led into the dressing room by paramedics.

"I have nothing against healthy hardness and fair checks," said ECP trainer Anton Saal, "but that was physical injury".

For Saal, Knaub should have received a game penalty much earlier

What particularly annoyed him: In his opinion, the 1.95 meter giant of the Rosenheimers shouldn't have been on the ice at this point.

In the second third, Knaub had already committed a blindside check against Andreas Feuerecker - a check that was carried out against a clearly unprepared player coming from the side.

"There has to be a game penalty for that," said Saal.

However, the referees assessed the situation differently and only awarded two minutes for this attack.

Following this action, a fistfight developed between Knaub and Feuerecker's teammate Lukas Gohlke.

"It wasn't about winning this brawl, it was about showing: We don't put up with everything," reported Saal.

The mood on the ice became noticeably more tense and Knaub then hit Morgan again just before the end.

For this offense, the Rosenheim player was given the long overdue game penalty.

Peiting sends videos to the DEB control committee

For the people of Peiting, the matter is not over yet.

They will send a video showing Knaub's attacks to the DEB Control Committee.

According to Saal, Knaub, who is known for his rough and often borderline gait, has to be taken out of circulation for a longer period of time.

Rosenheim's coach Jari Pasanen commented very cautiously.

From his point of view, the offense against Feuerecker was not a check against the head, he could not see the attack against Morgan from his point of view.

He found that Knaub "is not a culprit with us".

But Pasanen also emphasized: "We want toughness, but no injuries." Obviously, he was aware of how this game could develop: "I called the referees and told them that the game was escalating.

Marcl Besl sewn up with six stitches after an attack

Those responsible for the ECP will send another video of the Rosenheim game to the association.

It will show an attack by Stefan Reiter on Marc Besl at the beginning of the second third.

The Peitinger then had to go into the dressing room, where a gaping wound was sewn up with six stitches.

Sean Morgan complains of severe neck pain, and Markus Czogallik is also out

Besl can probably play this Tuesday (December 6th), but the Peitingen team are going to Bad Tölz with personnel worries.

Sean Morgan had an MRI yesterday.

The 27-year-old striker mainly complained of pain in his neck.

"If we're lucky, things will go smoothly and he might be able to play again next week," said Coach Saal.

He will probably have to do without Markus Czogallik for a longer time.

In the home game against Landsberg on Friday, the 21-year-old's knee unfortunately collided with an opponent's knee.

Yesterday, Czogallik had an appointment for a magnetic resonance imaging, a serious ligament injury is to be feared.

As is well known, Samuel Payeur (knee problems) will not be available to the Peitingen team for the foreseeable future.

Alexander Winkler is absent from the Tölzer Löwen for professional reasons.

Saal does not want to complain about this:

"It is as it is.

You have games like that.”
