The WINNER Tiberias International Marathon, the fastest and oldest marathon in Israel, starts this Friday (12/9) for the 45th time in a row with a record number of 7,500 runners from Israel and the world.
This time too there will be several races: a full marathon (42.2 km), a half marathon (21.1 km), a 10 km run and a 5 km run.
The marathon is produced for the second year in a row by the leading production company in Israel "Electra Target".
The Council for the Settlement of Betting in Sports will serve as the main sponsor of the event, and this is the tenth time.
Last year, the marathon was won by Daniel Molusht, who stopped the clock after 42.2 km at 2:17.08 hours, while the women's race was won by Beatty Deutsch, who set a time of 2:41.12 hours. In the half distance (21.1), a pair of Israeli runners won: Maru Tefri In men with a time of 1:02.17 hours and Luna Chemtai Saltpeter in women with a time of 1:11.36 hours.
The running route along the shores of the Sea of Galilee starts from the area of the Hoof Gai hotel in the southern part of the city to the area of Ein Gev and back to the starting point.
It is a flat course with few turns that every year is a "fertile ground" for record results, where the record result of the marathon is 2:07:30 which was achieved by the runner Patrick Tambwa from France.
