Manolo Fortenova, a midfielder from Genoa who was relegated to the minor league in Italy and only started in the team's lineup the other day, was convicted today (Tuesday) and sentenced to six years in prison, about eight months after an indictment was filed against him for his participation in a violent gang rape.
The 22-year-old Fortenova, until that time a promising young footballer who was also on the youth team of Italy, was sentenced to six years in prison by the Siena court after a young woman complained against him and two of his friends for brutally raping her after a party in Siena on the night of the 30th - May 31, 2021. He announced that he intends to appeal the sentence.

Fortenova, a midfielder who was sold from Juventus for 10 million euros a few months before he was arrested, was relegated with Genoa from the top league to Serie B and throughout the period, from being a suspect until the verdict given today, he takes an active part in the team's games.
Fortenova is also the son of former Bologna, Genoa and Napoli player Daniela Fortenova.
