After Belgium's elimination from the World Cup, Eden Hazard announced his international retirement. A look back at six defining moments of

It's the end of a great story and one of a great international career.

On Wednesday, Belgium captain Eden Hazard announced that he no longer wanted to play with Belgium again after 126 caps and 33 goals.

Here are the seven dates that marked Hazard's history with the Red Devils.

November 19, 2008: Luxembourg 1 - 1 Belgium, the first selection

Eden Hazard does not start his international career in the biggest game there is.

It doesn't matter, it's the beginning of the story between the Red Devils and their number 10. Entering in the 68th minute of play, the eldest of the Hazard brothers is immediately dangerous, eliminating three opponents before striking.

No goal, but already promises.

At 17, that's all he could ask for.

October 7, 2011: Belgium 4-1 Kazakhstan, the first goal

Eden Hazard, despite his status as the best player in Ligue 1 with LOSC, had to wait three years before scoring his first goal with Belgium.

It is therefore for his 23rd selection, during the qualifiers for Euro 2012, that he finally shines.

A support on Dries Mertens in the axis, a call in depth, a dribble on the goalkeeper and a shot in the empty goal: the great classic.

A goal that had changed his mentality and had given him a thirst for scoring that he did not necessarily have.

And above all, the end of the scarcity with the Red Devils.

June 26, 2016: Belgium 4-0 Hungary, first goal in a major tournament

For the Euro in France, Belgium comes forward as one of the favorites for the title.

After a second place in a group with Italy, Ireland and Sweden, the Red Devils find Hungary.

They lead 1-0 but fail to make the break.

It is this moment that Eden Hazard chooses to shine.

A decisive pass following a kind of improbable big bridge in the 78th minute, a goal in the 79th: the first of his career in a major international tournament and a qualification in his pocket.

October 10, 2017: Belgium 4-0 Cyprus, siblings in the spotlight

The Hazard brothers are all professional footballers.

Two of them played in the national team, and necessarily at the same time.

In 2017, this is the highlight for the siblings.

Eden opened the scoring early in the game, before Thorgan imitated him in the 52nd minute to open his counter with Belgium.

Ten minutes later, the big brother offers a double and Belgium crushes Cyprus.

An easy match and a party for the two brothers.

They will repeat the performance only once, against Russia in 2019.

June 23, 2018: Belgium 5-2 Tunisia, first World Cup goals

Eden Hazard's doubles in the national team are not legion: four in all in his career.

But one of them was more important than the others.

In 2018 in Russia, Belgium qualified for the round of 16 of the World Cup by beating Tunisia 5-2, thanks in particular to a double from their number 10. His first two goals in the World Cup, in a competition which he will dominate individually.

July 6, 2018: Brazil 1-2 Belgium, the "best game of his career"

Zinédine Zidane in 2006, Eden Hazard in 2018. Like his idol, the Belgian had the best performance of his career against Brazil, in the quarter-finals of a World Cup.

Ten dribbles attempted, ten successful, overflows, millimeter passes, and even a good defense against Neymar: Eden Hazard was perfect and allowed Belgium to qualify for the second semi-final in its history.

In 2019, he told goal.com: “This is the most successful moment of my entire career, all teams combined.

July 16, 2018: The show in front of the Grand Place in Brussels

To celebrate their third place at the 2018 World Cup, the Belgians offered themselves a moment of grace with their public on the Grand Place in Brussels.

Eden Hazard took the mic and gave an entire people a rare moment of fellowship in a lifetime.
