The European Water Polo Championship will come to Israel for the first time next year, as first published in "Israel Hayom" and will be held at the "Expo" in Tel Aviv, after the agreement between the parties has been signed.
Quite a few problems along the way led the union to consider moving the big event to the Wingate Institute in Netanya, and permission was even received from the World Water Polo Association, but in the end the union was able to solve the problems - and the event will take place in Tel Aviv as planned.
In addition, the Water Polo Association decided to allow the general public, similar to what has been happening in recent years in the Olympic Games, to choose the mascot of the championship that will open on October 7, when it will be in the form of a deer from Israel.
The design he chooses will become the mascot doll of the championship and will win the designer two subscriptions to the championship, including entry to the VIP area on the opening day and the final game.
The design that comes in second place will win the designer a ball signed by the players of the national team, and a shirt of the Israeli national team.
The European Water Polo Championship in Tel Aviv will be the largest in history, with 32 teams in total, who will compete for two weeks for the most prestigious title on the continent, when this time the championship will have a double importance as the men's and women's winners will also win a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
