The Paralympic taekwondo fighter Assaf Yassour won a bronze medal this evening (Thursday) at the prestigious Grand Prix finals in taekwondo (58 kg) which concludes the competition season for 2022 and is held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
In doing so, Yassur, competing in the weight category up to 58 kg, became the first Israeli ever to win a medal on Saudi soil and the Israeli athlete of the year competing in this country, after last October it was Shahar Shagiv, who competed in the world triathlon circuit.
On the way to the podium, a man will storm opponents from Spain in the quarterfinals.
In the semi-finals, he surrendered to his Azeri opponent, whom he defeated in the final of the last Grand Prix in Manchester.
And in the battle for the bronze medal he impressed and defeated the Uzbek champion with 38:27.
This is an important achievement for Assaf, who will now accumulate another score towards achieving the criterion for the Paralympic Games.
