Croatia are in the World Cup semi-finals after beating fellow title favorites Brazil.

The South Americans had more of the game and took the lead late through Neymar (105+1).

This wasn't enough, however, because Croatia managed to equalize shortly before the end (117') through Bruno Petković.

The decision was made on penalties, where the runner-up world champion had better nerves.

It was already clear in the early stages that things would not be as easy for Brazil as they were against South Korea.

In the round of 16, the Brazilians had already conceded four goals to the Koreans after 36 minutes, and the South Americans couldn't get through against Croatia at all.

Only in the 20th minute did the Brazilians speed up the game: Neymar passed it on to Vinícius Júnior, who moved inside and played a one-two with Richarlison.

The shot that followed was easy for Croatia keeper Dominik Livaković to save.

Both teams were very disciplined, the Brazilians had more possession, but Croatia narrowed the center and repeatedly used counterattacks that they couldn't get through.

The Brazilians also found it extremely difficult, the title favorites managed no more than a free kick from Neymar into the arms of Livaković (42nd).

Livaković keeps Croatia in the game

Right at the beginning of the second half, Brazil had a great chance to take the lead.

Raphinha brought the ball in sharply, where defender Joško Gvardiol almost deflected into his own goal (47').

Brazil became more and more dangerous and came through again and again, especially thanks to their fast wingers.

Richarlison escaped his guards and served Neymar, who failed again at Livaković (55th).

Livaković, who propelled Croatia to the quarter-finals against Japan with three saved penalties, also excelled shortly thereafter.

Brazil striker Lucas Paquetá shot at goal from close range, but the keeper saved again (66').

Croatia largely halted their attacking efforts, remaining in the game thanks to Livaković, who saved against Neymar in a one-on-one duel (76').

Brazil then continued to push for the opening goal.

He no longer wanted to succeed in the regular season.

In extra time, Croatia didn't get much at first apart from a shot that was placed too high by Bruno Petković (104').

Instead, Neymar showed his skills.

The superstar first played a one-two with Rodrygo, then another in the penalty area with Paquetá.

Shortly before keeper Livaković, Neymar shot the ball under the bar from a tight angle (105' + 1').

The goal wasn't enough as Croatia equalized with the first shot on goal.

Petković fired in the penalty area, the shot deflected by Marquinhos went into the goal to make it 1-1 (117').
