– The more than eight-hour journey to Veysonnaz in Switzerland was worth it for Christiane Santen.

The 52-year-old from Wartenberg won the three races of the World Cup Masters series in her age group.

She was even more happy about her successful rides and the fifth places in the overall field.

A total of 120 skiers - including some from Japan, Canada and Norway - came to Switzerland and threw themselves off the slope at 2100 meters.

The sloping, steep slope had it all.

During the slalom on the first day of the race, there was also fog.

"In addition, there was about half a meter of fresh snow on the hard surface," said Santen, who mastered the heavily twisted course well in both rounds.

The following day, the conditions were even more demanding at the first giant slalom, reports the runner from the Auerbach Ski Club.

“Visibility conditions were even worse, and the large amount of fresh snow was slipping more and more into the fall zones.

You had to hold the line there.” Santen coped well with the tight course setting.

Again she was the fastest in her age group – as she was in the giant slalom the day after.

"But I was the only participant in my category." She really enjoyed the sunshine and the hard, non-slip slope at 16 degrees.

In the total field of 17 who started, she again came in fifth.

In the World Cup Total Score, Santen is now in first place ahead of American Deborah Adams and Italy's Deborah Marcessoni.

The next six races are taking place these days in the Aosta Valley in northwestern Italy.
