Tragic incidents at the World Cup in Qatar: On Friday evening, an American journalist suffered a fatal collapse.
Another journalist died a few hours later.
Doha – The death of US journalist Grant Wahl at the 2022 World Cup made waves not only in the USA.
NBA superstar LeBron James, the US government, but also FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed their condolences.

World Cup in Qatar: Second journalist dies one day after Grant Wahl's death
The unusual circumstances of his collapse during the Netherlands v Argentina game led his brother Eric Wahl to believe he had been killed.
Less than 24 hours later, Qatari media reported another death: Qatari photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam also died while working.
"Al-Misslam, a Qatari national, died suddenly while covering the Qatar 2022 World Cup. We believe in Allah's mercy and forgiveness on him and offer our condolences to his family," Gulf Times news channel

WM: Qatari journalist Khalid al-Misslam dies at work
Al-Misslam worked for the Qatari broadcaster Al Kass TV, his employer confirmed his death.
There was initially no information about the cause of his death, and there is no evidence that the two deaths are related.
Before his death, US journalist Wahl demonstrated with a rainbow shirt against the anti-human rights regime in Qatar.
In his podcast he reported on bronchitis.
His body had let him down.
"Three weeks of little sleep, lots of stress, and lots of work can do that to you," he said.

Brother of US journalist Grant Wahl: "He received death threats"
"They gave me an antibiotic and a strong cough syrup." Wahl's brother Eric took to Instagram with a statement: "My name is Eric, I'm Grant Wahl's brother.
I'm gay.
I'm the reason he wore a rainbow shirt.
My brother was healthy.
He told me he received death threats.
I think he was killed."
In his last published article, Grant Wahl criticized the host country for brazenly dismissing reports of the deaths of up to 6,000 workers during the construction of the tournament.
