The women's goalball team defeated the Brazilian team this evening (Monday) in the fifth match of the group stage at the World Championship in Portugal with a score of 4:8.
At the half of the game, the score was tight with a small advantage of 3:4 for Israel, but in the second half the Blues and Whites increased the difference and achieved the victory in a big way.
Lihya Ben David continues to excel and in today's game she scored 6 of the eight goals.
So far, the team has recorded victories in the five games they have participated in, against Egypt, Great Britain, the USA, Japan and Brazil. The next game (tomorrow) is against Australia and later against the host Portugal.
The team, made up of players from Beit HaLochem Tel Aviv and branches of a school for the blind, includes the captain Gal Hamrani, and Ilham Mahmid Rozin, Lihya Ben David, Roni Ohion, Uri Mizrahi and Noa Malka, and Gal's two guide dogs Dylan and Roni's Rudy.
The coach is Raz Shoham, the assistant coaches - Eran Reik and Nizar Mahajana
