EA Schongau won their home game against ESC Kempten 5:4.

A player who recently played for the “Sharks” scored an important goal.

Schongau – Actually, the EA Schongau wanted to carefully build up their newcomer Tobias Hoferer and first let them play in the 1b team in the district league.

Due to a few absences, the 20-year-old striker had to play last Sunday in the “Mammuts” Bayernliga home game against ESC Kempten.

He promptly scored a goal against his previous club, where the youngster had practically no ice time.

"These are stories that ice hockey writes," said EAS team manager Martin Resch after the important 5: 4 (2: 0, 3: 2, 0: 2) success of the weakened Schongauer against the direct competitor for one of the eight places in the championship round.

EAS coach Maucher praises the team

Parallel events: Both in Schongau and in Kempten there was a change of coach last week.

That was only a marginal issue when the two opponents met.

The focus was on new signing Hoferer.

"We actually didn't want to announce the commitment until this week," says the EAS team manager.

But then he was moved into the squad because of a few failures.

In the second third, Hoferer was ordered into the first row - and promptly scored a goal.

EAS coach Helmut Maucher, who took over at least temporarily after Rainer Höfler's resignation, praised the whole team.

"She showed a strong fighting performance and deserved to win."

His weakened team, which lacked two top performers in Daniel Holzmann and Jonas Lautenbacher, got off to a good start against the Allgäu.

Marius Klein (7th) and Samy Paré (15th) shot the hosts 2-0 up in the first period.

The "mammoths" benefited from the blunders of the Kempten team.

"My team made mistakes that you can no longer see in the little schoolchildren," said the new ESC coach Harald Waibel, who was noticeably served.

Only his goalkeeper Danny Schubert was wide awake.

He thwarted good EAS chances and prevented his team from going further behind.

Estermaier hits 1:2 just 35 seconds after the Kemptener

Practically out of nowhere, the guests came close at the beginning of the middle section to make it 1:2 thanks to a goal scored by Pascal Kröber (21st).

In the midst of the cheering of the small group of Kempten fans, Andreas Estermaier restored the two-goal difference just 35 seconds later with the 3:1.

Because Paré had to go into the dressing room early after an unpunished knee check by a Kemptener, Hoferer got his chance.

He used it immediately when he deflected a long-range shot from Mathias Schuster to make it 4-1 (28').

The "Mammuts" were also not impressed by the subsequent second guest goal by Linus Voit after a ricochet rebound (30th).

Even before the second break, Estermaier made it 5:2 (38th).

Only in the final third did the Allgäu vehemently brace themselves against the impending defeat.

While the strength of the team-stricken home side was slowly dwindling, the "Sharks" came a little closer with a converted penalty shot by Lars Grötzinger, which Lubos Velebny had caused by throwing a bat (44').

When Grötzinger then also managed to make it 4:5 (52nd), the "Mammuts" threatened to lose the three points they had already thought were certain.

In the final phase, the Schongau defended their narrow lead with a lot of commitment.

They threw themselves into every shot and then brought the narrow victory over time.
