New model promotes sport and healthy nutrition - Unterbiberg, Haar and Garching are part of it

Unterbiberg – Three primary schools in the district of Munich can now officially call themselves sports primary schools: the Unterbiberg primary school, the Haar primary school on St.-Konrad-Strasse and the Garching-West primary school.

The Bavarian Minister of Education, Michael Piazolo, together with the President of the Bavarian State Sports Association, Jörg Ammon, awarded numerous primary schools in Upper Bavaria the profile of primary school sports.

The schools were honored in a ceremony at the Unterbiberg elementary school for their exceptional commitment and creativity in the areas of sport, exercise and healthy nutrition.

Piazolo congratulated the successful applicants and underlined the importance that sports and nutrition enjoy in Bavaria: "The health of our children is a matter close to my heart.

Regular exercise and a healthy diet are of central importance for this.

I am very pleased that so many elementary schools are particularly committed to precisely these areas,

With a view to the fact that the successful applicants have benefited from a third sports lesson in the first grade since the beginning of the school year and have also received 1000 euros for the purchase of play and sports equipment, Piazolo spoke of a "model with real added value".

The award-winning schools were able to improve in the area of sports and exercise, for example, through the consistent implementation of the exercise and health program in full form, the implementation of swimming lessons, a wide range of sports facilities at the school, participation in school sports competitions, projects with external partners (e.g . Sports clubs and universities) or the targeted orientation of the all-day offer are convincing.

In the area of healthy nutrition, the successful applicants scored points, among other things, through their cooperation with the school catering network, a regular offer of healthy snacks or breakfast or participation in programs and workshops on school catering.

Christiane Bussert, the headmistress of the Unterbiberg elementary school, is delighted with the award: “We headmasters were all very proud that we received this award.

We see this award as recognition of our commitment to the children and as praise for our work.

It takes a lot of time and energy to set up and live such a diverse range of offers.”

A lot is also being done in Unterbiberg to do justice to the term sports primary school.

In cooperation with expert trainers, there is an annual athletics inspection, close cooperation with the local handball club HSG B-One and swimming lessons.

Pupils can also use the sports facilities during breaks.

Ice skating trips are organized in winter.

In addition to sporting activities, healthy nutrition also plays a very important role in Unterbiberg.

It is freshly cooked every day and the children are made aware of the topic of healthy eating.

Christiane Bussert is fully behind the Bavaria-wide project of primary schools for sports.

The schools, which are very close to the Alps, implement a diverse winter sports program.

And the school in Haar has a bouldering room.

The Unterbiberg elementary school is now officially a sports elementary school.
