The Israel Figure Skating Championships will open tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Ice Peaks Ice Hall in Holon, marking the 50th anniversary of the murder of the 11 athletes in Munich.
About 60 skaters will participate in the championship, in different categories: children, youth, men, women and dance couples and in a variety of levels.
Representatives from all the clubs in Israel from Metula to Eilat participate in the competition.
This year the skaters of the younger generation who train with Yevgeny Krasnopolsi and Alexey Bichenko, our Olympic skaters, who joined Galit Hayat's coaching staff, will take part.
A gala event will take place immediately after the medal ceremony.
The Israel Championship will also be held in memory of Alik Malaishter, who was part of the Ice Hall family for the past 7 years.
