Formula 2 driver Amaury Cordeel can handle fast cars.
Still, his career could be over before it even really got started.
Temse - In motorsport, Amaury Cordeel is actually considered a great talent.
The 20-year-old finished in the points in the last three races of the Formula 2 season and has already signed a new contract for the coming season.
In theory, the Belgian should switch to Virtuosi, but that could be over by now.
Cordeel is now on trial and has to give up his driver's license for speeding.

Team: Virtuosi Racing |
Number: 15 |
The incident happened in December 2020. Cordeel was speeding through Temse, a Belgian municipality, in his father's car.
The speedometer showed 179 km/h, so the then 18-year-old was 129 km/h too fast!
Not only that, Cordeel filmed his frenzy and posted a video of it on the internet before deleting it a short time later.
However, it was too late - the police had already started the investigation and were chasing the young Belgian.

Amaury Cordeel with strange excuses in court
Amaury Cordeel has now been fined €3,600 and given up his driver's license for six months.
Actually, motorsport drivers don't necessarily need a driver's license - after all, Max Verstappen drove his very first Formula 1 race at the age of 17.
Nevertheless, Formula 2 boss Bruno Michel makes it clear: "This is probably a case that we have to discuss with the FIA to see how we deal with it.
We cannot ignore it.”
Also, Cordeel's excuses were pretty odd.
He stated in court that he was not driving because he did not have a driver's license at the time.
However, the court found that he had bought one online for €450.
"By the way, I can't have filmed myself because I would need both hands on the steering wheel," the Belgian
said in his defense, according to
Het Laatste Nieuws .
Not the first such incident for Cordeel
However, there was a similar incident for the 20-year-old.
In March 2021, he raced down the Belgian motorway at 300 km/h.
Actually, 120 km/h were allowed there and Cordeel filmed himself again here and uploaded the video to TikTok.
This incident seemed to have no consequences for his career.
It is unclear whether the FIA will turn a blind eye again.

Cordeel's Formula 2 season could have been a bit better too.
He managed to collect twelve penalty points within the first six races and was therefore already suspended at Silverstone.
Despite this, he was still able to score points for his team in the last few races.
How his formula series career will continue is open.
