France vs Morocco live today: Upamecano is out of the semifinals

Update from December 14, 6:10 p.m .:

Around two hours before the second semi-final of the World Cup in Qatar, there is bad news from defending champion France.

According to the specialist newspaper L'Équipe, national coach Didier Deschamps will have to do without two players against Morocco.

Both midfielder Adrien Rabiot and FC Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano are out due to illness, with Ibrahima Konate and Youssouf Fofana likely to replace them.

Upamecano's Munich team-mate Lucas Hernández was out early on with a cruciate ligament rupture, and Benjamin Pavard's only place at this tournament is currently on the bench.

Kingsley Coman also has to cope with his role as a reservist.

The only Bayern professional on the Moroccan side, Noussair Mazraoui, reported himself fit for the semi-finals.

France vs Morocco live today: will the favorite make it to the final again?

First report from December 14:

Doha - For the first time in 22 World Cup finals, an African team advanced to the semi-finals in Qatar.

Morocco first beat Spain in the round of 16 in the knockout stages and then eliminated Portugal a round later as the North Africans face another crucial clash against European giants.

However, the reigning world champion France is in an extremely good mood and is going into the second semi-final as the clear favorite.

France vs Morocco live today: Équipe Tricolore last eliminated England

France faced Poland as well as England en route to the semi-finals, and the quarter-final against the Three Lions was particularly tense.

In the end, the Équipe Tricolore won 2-1 against last year's European Championship finalists and showed themselves to be in world champion form, especially in terms of callousness.

Although the lightning-fast superstar Kylian Mbappé was kept in check by England throughout the game, France made it through to the semi-finals.

Ultimately, it was the 36-year-old veteran striker Olivier Giroud who opened the gate in the last four.

The mix of young and old, of carefree and experienced, could also be decisive against the poisonous Moroccans.

The game is very special for the North Africans, Morocco was a French colony for more than forty years.

Some national players of the

Lions de l'Atlas

as well as their head coach Walid Regragui were born in France and partly spent their entire lives in Europe.

The French also have an actor of Moroccan descent in Mattéo Guendouzi.

Emotions are hardly avoidable today.

Should France prevail against the underdog, that would mean the second World Cup final in a row.
