With Ingrid Schuhbauer, Freising loses one of its most important officials.

Her commitment to handball and SC Freising was enormous.

Freising

- She was "Miss Handball" in Freising, she was a doer.

Not only in "her" sport, for which she has been committed in many ways for several decades.

Last Saturday, the heart of one of the most important officials in district sports stopped beating forever: Ingrid Schuhbauer, who was born in Freising and has never left her town because she has always felt very comfortable here.

She never wanted to leave - "except for vacations in areas where I can relax and gain new strength," as she once said.

On December 17, she would have been 74 years old.

Ingrid Schuhbauer, who was born in Wagner, actually played netball.

She was 14 at the time. But some of her teammates switched to handball at SC Freising – and she went the same way.

There she also met her future husband Walter, a very ambitious trainer.

He died in June 2016. She was allowed to be married to him for 50 years.

She was not above any task in the club

The sporty couple was “married” above all to handball.

Both have shaped SC Freising - her husband as chairman and Ingrid as youth leader and trainer of the little ones - for more than four decades.

The grandchildren Alexander, Daniel and Tobias, but above all their son Walter, who acted as a trainer and head of department, were able to inspire them to play handball.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

While her husband Walter was also active at the association level for many years, Ingrid Schuhbauer was not above any task in the association.

Somehow she was present everywhere with the SCF handball players, coordinated, was committed to her club.

Also for the HSG Freising-Neufahrn, when it came to the cooperation with the TSV Neufahrn: Whether at the sales stand, in the hall, at the judges, or when it came to driving the buddies of the Bayernliga team at the time to the games: Ingrid Schuhbauer did it – and afterwards had the time and muse late in the evening to provide the press with the necessary information for the match reports.

Ingrid and her husband Walter were undoubtedly the elite couple in Freising handball.

Her son Walter (still a primary school student at the time) still remembers well that his parents – who were still in the district of Munich for many years – made the league divisions for all youth teams.

The children were always the most important thing to her

When her husband Walter withdrew from the association level, his wife Ingrid stepped in.

Years ago, she formulated why she did it as follows: Walter said, “we have to get involved in the association.

And he said you can do it better than me."

From 2011 onwards, Ingrid Schuhbauer worked meticulously - mind you for more than 500 clubs with over 1300 active players - as Vice President of Match Operations for the Bavarian Handball Association (BHV) and also for the referee area.

How did she, who described herself as a perfectionist, say on the occasion of her 70th birthday ceremony?

"If I do something, then do it right.

And then I can definitely get annoying.”

Not to be forgotten: Ingrid Schuhbauer has always made sure that there are young people – especially in the national association work.

She last emphasized this personal concern at the BLSV district conference on October 20 in Attaching, where she again, in her unselfish way, agreed to run as a substitute delegate for the BLSV district conference.

"The most important thing is the children," she always said.

Ingrid Schuhbauer will no longer be able to attend Oberhaching on February 4th.

Not only the Freisinger sports family, but also that of the entire district and the BLSV district, is in great mourning.
