Soccer star Vivianne Miedema was apparently carried off the pitch in tears with a knee injury during Arsenal's Champions League top game against Olympique Lyon.
Unaffected by opponents, she apparently twisted her leg in injury time in the first half and went straight to the ground, indicating that she would not be able to continue.
Arsenal later tweeted: "We are all thinking of you Viv!"
Miedema is one of the best players in the world.
With her power and goal instinct, the 26-year-old Dutchwoman makes her teams favorites.
Like the Netherlands, with whom the center forward became European Champion in 2017 and Vice World Champion in 2019.
Or like Arsenal FC, with whom she became English champion in 2019.
The 0:1 (0:1) defeat against Lyon, the reigning Champions League winners, on the penultimate day of the group stage was about early entry into the quarter-finals.
Arsenal would have gone through with a win.
Shortly before Miedema was injured, also in stoppage time in the first half, Frida Maanum scored the goal of the day with an own goal (45+1).
For Arsenal, an injury to Miedema would be a major blow.
Miedema is her team's top scorer in the English Super League with four goals and one assist in eight games.
Arsenal are second there.
With a game in hand, they are just three points shy of Chelsea leaders.
Bayern in the quarterfinals
Bayern had previously won in Malmo, Sweden.
At district club FC Rosengård, coach Alexander Straus' team won 4-0 (1-0).
The Brazilian Tainara (38th), national player Sydney Lohmann (66th), European champion Georgia Stanway (73rd) and Julia Landenberger (90th + 1) scored in eight minus degrees for the Bundesliga second.
Because Benfica Lisbon lost 2:6 (0:2) against FC Barcelona in the later game, Bayern are already certain as quarter-finalists before the final group match day.
Last week, the Munich team won the top game 3-1 against Barça.
