Munich/Stuttgart – Boris Becker is free.
The German tennis star was released from British custody after almost seven months and returned to Germany this Thursday because the English authorities deported him as part of his release from prison.
Boris Becker: Deported from England to Germany
Becker's lawyer confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon (December 15): "Our client Boris Becker was released from custody in England and left for Germany today." he was serving his sentence at Huntercombe Prison in Oxfordshire, west of London.
Boris Becker had lived in Great Britain for the past few years.
His prison sentence was actually two and a half years.
Under British law, probation would only have been possible after half the sentence had been served.
However, Becker benefited from a special release and deportation program.
Any foreign prisoner “who can be released from prison and deported up to twelve months before the earliest release date” is eligible for this in Great Britain.

However, there was confusion on Thursday evening about the whereabouts of the tennis icon in Germany.
It remained unclear where Becker ended up after leaving England.
At least there were signs that he had arrived in southern Germany.

, Becker allegedly wanted to fly from Farnborough in the direction of Munich Airport in a chartered private jet from Air Hamburg.
Accordingly, the Wimbledon winner was also on the passenger list of the "Cessna Citation XLS" type machine.
However, he was apparently not on board.

A spokesman for Munich Airport told t-online

wrote that Becker's plane could not land in Munich due to the weather.
