England's national team regularly posted photos of a cat at the 2022 World Cup.

Now John Stones and Kyle Walker are apparently adopting the cat.

Manchester – After the 2-1 defeat against France, the disappointment at the quarter-finals of the "Three Lions" was huge.

Harry Kane, courted by Bayern Munich, shot the second penalty into the night sky of Qatar, sealing another year without a title for Gareth Southgate's team.

The England stars don't have to return home empty-handed - Kyle Walker and John Stones, team-mates at Manchester City, are now bringing a stray cat back to England.

World Cup 2022: Stray cat was England's mascot in Qatar

During the World Cup in Qatar, "Big Dave" was one of the World Cup attractions in the motherland of football.

During the course of the tournament, the England national team regularly posted pictures and videos of the stray cat, who became the unofficial mascot of the "Three Lions".

Kyle Walker and John Stones christened the cute cat Dave, who would accompany the players to meals and recreational activities.

The City duo even promised to adopt the cat should England win the tournament.

Recordings were circulating on

Upon arrival, the cat suddenly appeared at the England team's hotel, Stones said in a video posted to the Three Lions' official Instagram account.

After that he stayed with the team every evening and waited patiently for his food.

Immediately before the France game, however, there was probably a small quarrel between the English player and the stray cat.

"The other day he didn't eat everything.

We were a bit angry with him. ”But the dispute seems to have been settled in the meantime.

"Some people don't like him, but we love him," explained Kyle Walker.

Kyle Walker posted a video on Instagram after leaving, which also featured Dave.

"As always, it was a great pleasure for me to represent England," wrote the 74-time international.

The English fans celebrated Walker under the post but above all his love for the hangover.

Manchester City: John Stones and Kyle Walker take care of England's World Cup mascot

The cat will probably have to be in quarantine for a few weeks beforehand to rule out illness.

It is not known which of the two city pros Dave will live with in the future.

With Walkers and Stones' care, however, you don't have to worry about the little four-legged friend.
