Jerusalem Masters: Israel's judo team is proud to host Israel today

Despite difficulties, the third most important tournament in the world is coming to Israel next week, and the Israeli fighters are preparing with full seriousness.

Less than a week before the Judo Masters in Jerusalem, preparations are being completed in the men's and women's team and by the union, which worked to bring here for the first time the competition that is considered the third most important after the Olympic Games and the World Championship.

The one who commented on the preparations was the chairman of the union, Moshe Ponti, who criticized the fact that he received the money he was due at the last minute, which almost resulted in the cancellation of the event: "Bringing such a big tournament means that it should be taken seriously, so the authorized officials should have worked properly and this is not Happened.

"I want to thank Ofer Bostan from the sports director, the Minister of Hili Trooper, Raz Froelich and Guy Atias who helped me a few days before the competition to get the money from the state and transfer it to the world association that almost canceled the competition."

Ponti continued: "There are other people there who should have done it differently and not let me wait until a week before the competition because it was almost canceled because of that.

This is a situation that should not be.

This story made me sick.

Thanks to the Jerusalem Municipality and the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs for giving us large budgets and helping us as well.

Now we will make the Masters a big event like we know how to do."

About the competition itself he said: "I'm not talking about medals. The biggest success is that we brought such a tournament to Israel. Each medal brings a score almost like in the World Championship, so the results here are important, so that this tournament will be strong.

"At the last World Championships, five athletes competed for a medal and there was another team medal, so I am satisfied with where we are. We will not make the mistakes we made before the Tokyo Olympics, we will prepare differently. I believe that what we did not do in Tokyo will be done in Paris."

"I am very happy to compete in Israel," said the judoka Inbar Lanir (up to 78 kg), "It is great that a competition of this magnitude is held here and I am very excited to compete.

Every period has its challenges and I am sure that I will withstand whatever comes, when my goal in the competition is to win a medal, it will be a significant achievement.

On a personal level, if I get to the competition and bring myself 100 percent, I will be satisfied."

Primary singing (up to 48 kg): "It's very exciting.

This is a very prestigious competition and the fact that there is a well just shows how strong our union and the national team are.

I hope to give my best performance.

I'm in really good shape, after the training camp in Japan.

"I don't think about whether this is my last campaign, because even before Tokyo I thought about retiring and I stayed. After winning a medal for the first time in the European Championship, it opened my hunger for more titles."

The one who came to support the boys' team is the Olympic bronze medalist Uri Sasson, who trained together with Peter Palachik and will also come next week to cheer.
